personality:
Nora is respectful of other people. She would never shout at someone older than her unless they have done something really extremely bad. She wouldn't dare raise her voice to her father, mainly in fear of his reaction, but she wouldn't ever raise her voice to her mother because she respects her mother too much and wouldn't want to upset her. She doesn't like it when others raise their voice to her mother either, and will fiercely react to that, demanding that they show her mother the respect that she deserves. She respects the people that she meets daily, and will also believe them unless she's aware of a reason not to. Professors are another set of people that will never hear her voice raised at them. She is a kind person, but not to the point where she'll squash back her own ideas just to be kind to other people, unless it's her father because she doesn't like speaking against him, she never can judge how he will react. She is quite opinionated and won't hesitate to join a debate, although she tries not to get angry whilst debating, as it's just a discussion and not an argument to her. Se doesn't like people expecting too much of her which is something her father is guilty of, and she is very hardworking. Nora tries to get all her homework in on time and done to a standard that she can be proud of. She is very neat, and her handwriting reflects this, although sometimes she can slack and her little area will get a little messier than it should.
Nora is a romantic and hopes that she will get this 'happy ending' always talked about in the fairy tales. She can also be a little naive and too easily trusting sometimes, and that can be a fault when the person doesn't deserve her trust and abuses this. She's a bad liar and this is bad when she needs to lie, although that isn't a situation that comes around often. She loves organising surprises for people but finds it hard not to be too excited and want to tell them straight away, spoiling the surprise. She enjoys riddles and other questions that require some thought. Her favourite subject is Herbology but she's a little better at potions, and she gets that from her mother, who was skilled at potion making. She likes butterbeer to drink, and enjoys the snow, but only when it's fresh and no one's stepped in it so much that it's gone all mushy. She likes the winter, as walking in Hogwarts grounds is always breathtaking in this season. Nora loves holidays and Christmas and Halloween are her favourite, especially at the castle, when all the trees go up and the holiday spirit is all around. She can't help but feel all Christmassy then. She likes being individual, and doesn't like it when people just fall into line, although sometimes she understands that it is necessary and for a good cause.

Isabella Dalton was a pure blood, born into the luxurious Dalton household. They never wanted for anything, the Dalton kids, and there were so many of them! Isabella had an elder brother, Joshua and sister, Bethany, who were twins, and a younger brother, and then there were her cousins who also lived with them. Evelyn, Arthur and Kelsie, of varying ages. At seventeen, it was announced by Isabella's mother, Priscilla, that Bethany was to marry a respectable man named Byron Nott. Byron was a pure blood and worked at the Ministry of Magic. Joshua had also been paired with someone in another arranged marriage of his mother's doing, but his match was a little more successful. Bethany resisted the match, and Isabella could see why. Beth liked someone else, and she hoped that he would be the one for her, and seeing as Isabella had no one who loved her yet, she sacrificed herself, knowing it wouldn't be long until she was expected to marry someone anyway. She went above her parents head, arranged to marry Mr Nott herself, and he agreed to marry her instead. Isabella had guts and he liked that. She sold the idea to her parents, and sensing that there were less arguments from Izzy than Beth, they agreed, and a few years later, she wed Mr Byron Nott.
She didn't think that she would be happy, and at the start, she wasn't very happy at all. She'd moved in with the Nott family, and they didn't seem to like her. Apparently she wasn't as pretty as Bethany, and they were unsure if the children she produced would be pretty enough to hold the Nott name. They were a good looking family, and quite vain. But when she gave birth to their first child, a son, the boy was as cute as ever, and a girl followed who grew up to be so very beautiful. A few years later, a younger boy was born, followed shortly after by his twin sister, and their family was complete. Isabella adored her children, and she spent as much time with them as she could. She home schooled them with tutors so that they could stay close and sat in on lessons or helped them out with homework, not like her mother, who'd not treated them like children when she was growing up, just extensions of herself that she had absolutely no responsibility for. Until it came to their marriages. Isabella swore that she would be nothing like that. Byron, however, reminded her a lot of her mother, and of her father, when it came to his parenting attitude.
So Nora grew up in a loving environment created by her mother, and loved every moment of her happy upbringing. Like her mother, Nora and her siblings wanted for nothing, the Nott family money took care of that, and the rest of the Nott family saw Isabella in a better light when they saw the children that she'd helped create. All grew up well, with manners and a good working attitude. Nora wanted to be a woman that would make her mother proud, and she wanted the happy ending that her mother didn't get. She'd dreamt of love ever since she'd been read her first fairy tale, and since then, she's told herself that she will only marry for love, no matter what that means. Starting Hogwarts was pretty fantastic, as up until then she'd only been home schooled, but to be around so many other children, she relished in all the new people to meet. Nora made friends easily, and boys flocked to her because of her looks, and she may flirt a little, but nothing really strong, and hardly ever lets it get further than that. She's not had a steady boyfriend for this reason, and at the moment is still, in the romantic fashion, saving herself for the right person. Whether she'll meet him, now that's another thing.

roleplay sample:
Joshua tried his best to remember the boy who had perished on their doorstep. No, not just on their doorstep, but right under their noses. He must have been dying when Josh was sat inside thinking about Jaslene and his wedding. When Evie was thinking about Sam. When Izzy was thinking about school or Byron or whatever it was that she was thinking about. His death, it had changed everything. He'd known that the adults were capable of terrible things, he'd been on the wrong end of the wand so many times in the past that he knew what they were capable of. The cruciatus curse wasn't particularly pleasant, and it wasn't easy, but he'd kept every single secret that had been entrusted to him, from Harrison's sexuality to the things that Bethany had gotten up to. Granted, he'd played a part in a few of the unruly things too, so it was his secret as much as hers, but he kept secrets for every Dalton, and he planned on it remaining that way. No matter what pain he was put through, he'd never give up the secrets, because he wouldn't let his siblings be hurt. He knew that he wasn't the only one who'd faced the brunt of this, as Bethany too had been treated the same. He preyed that they never touched Isabella or Gareth, because if they tried to hurt his younger siblings, well, he was pretty much ready to kill them. But no matter what pain they'd put him through, it was probably nothing compared to what Evie was feeling right now, or Izzy, either.
Josh had only seen the boy, he was trying not to think his name, but he felt guilty about that at the same time. Sam. Sam. He'd only seen Sam a few times when he'd been in Honeydukes buying chocolate, or stopping in the Three broomsticks for a drink after work, but he seemed nice enough. Of course Josh got a slight grudge against him when he found out that he was Evie's boyfriend, but that was Josh's protective side coming through, as he'd always thought of Evie as the innocent one, and this boy looked like he would corrupt her or hurt her or something, and he didn't want to see Evie hurt. But then as it turned out, the Sam didn't hurt her, just losing him did. It was tearing her apart, you could tell when you looked in her eyes. Josh would feel the same if he'd lost Jaslene too. He'd be inconsolable. He'd heard Evie's screams through the house, and he'd immediately went to see what was going on. He'd seen her sobbing and holding him, and Josh had never seen Evie cry, so he was gob smacked. It had taken him a good few minutes to work out what was going on. It was like he couldn't think. There was this boy, bleeding all over the floor, and his own brain wasn't working. It was like he couldn't comprehend it. Or, he didn't want to. Death was something that Joshua Dalton hadn't really seen, and yet, here was this shell of a man, being cradled by his cousin, whilst he bled all over her shirt and the floor and about everywhere else the blood could reach. It was this scene that Joshua had revisited in his mind, over and over and over, and he'd had to stop himself being consumed by it. How was Evie holding it together as well as she was?
And then there were thoughts that Josh had, like, Sam would never get those choclates down from the top shelf again, for Josh to give to Jas. (or at least, try to give to Jas, but no promises, because Honeydukes chocolates were the best around, and they were just too damned tempting.) He'd never see Sam smiling as he ordered a drink in the Three Broomsticks. Merlin, it was starting to sound like he was in love with him! But he'd still expect it. Sam walking through the door. He'd even bought Josh a drink once, knowing he was a Dalton. He really wasn't that bad a guy, and maybe Josh had been a little judgemental and hard on him. He wished he hadn't. They could have been friends. It was probably better that they weren't, however, because he'd be even worse than he was now, and someone needed to be strong for them. As the eldest of the Dalton children, he felt the need to be the rock. The one they could go to. Well, one of the oldest, Beth being the other, but he was the oldest guy. He couldn't let himself fall apart. At least all the blood was gone, and he could be sure of that, although he doubted that it would stop the mental reminders. He'd walked into the hall and remembered it all in perfect detail, so if that was what happened to him, he dreaded to think what was going on with Evie. She must be in a terrible state, and yet.. she was holding it together. Somehow. At least, after the outburst when she found the body, but then maybe she was just trying to make everyone think she was fine.
Josh's eyes widened as he heard the crashing from Izzy's room, and for one terrible second he thought that maybe his parents were trying the same thing with Izzy to. No way in hell. He jumped up and bolted it down the corridor, completely passing her door and skidding to a hault. He turned around and jogged back, stepping right into her room and seeing everything, everywhere. He'd never seen it in such a mess! She was always such a neat person, and to be honest, Josh was impressed! Josh watched with an awe stricken face as Izzy's fist smashed into the mirror. he didn't even see that coming, and rushed straight over to her, kneeling next to her and hovering his face over her hand. "Izzy! Are you trying to kill yourself?!" he asked without thinking. probably not the best choice of words. "Damnit! Here, I need to stop the bleeding" Josh said, reaching for a random bit of material that could have come from anything. He didn't care, he just needed to stop the bleeding. He held it against her hand, applying pressure, and moved around so that he was cradling her against his chest. "Damn, Izzy, you frightened me! What were you doing?! What's the matter?" he asked, moving his free hand to wipe her eyes. What had made her so mad that she'd done this? He didn't understand. "Did you really have to make this much of a mess? You know my tidying charms aren't good at the best of times" he tried a weak attempt at humour, but he could barely muster a smile. He hated seeing her like this.
