[/blockquote][/justify]alex is a colourful guy in more ways than one. he hates boring people, he hates being boring and he hated being bored. as such, there's rarely a dull moment around him. he just can't stand to sit still for too long and can easily get distracted from his work by the prospect of potential mischief or gossip. he loves to know everything that's going on and can't stand to be left out of any gossip. he also loves to have a good laugh and probably pushes the boundaries a little further than he should. rules are there to be broken, right? despite always wanting something to do, it's very difficult to get alex out of bed in the mornings. he loves his sleep and is reluctant to get up even once he's finished sleeping. some might call him lazy for this, especially when twinned with his often late homework which could probably be better if he actually put his mind to it. the fact is he'd much rather be playing quidditch because it is quite literally what he lives for. he dreams of playing quidditch professionally and wants to be the best of the best. the only things that really seem to bother him are those that would stop him doing this, such as getting old or too injured to play. another of his concerns is that all the crap he eats will eventually catch up with him, also making it a little difficult for him to play if there's more of him hanging off the broom than there is sitting on it. he doesn't fall short of gryffindor expectations. he's undaunted by possible punishments (though he is always aware that there may be consequences of his actions) and is extremely loyal to his friends. he's not afraid to speak up for himself and won't be silenced. the only exception to this is the laws on relationships. he knows that he'll be imprisoned if he does so and as he doesn't really fancy this, he'd rather keep any relationships with those of a lower blood status very quiet. his general excuse is that he's too busy with quidditch to have time for a girlfriend when in fact he's just not interested in girls at all. with the laws instated to ensure children are born into families where both parents are of the same blood status as them, he can't imagine same sex couples going down well either.

[/justify][/size]alex was born in dublin to david and caroline bennett, two pureblooded wizards from less well-known families but pureblooded nonetheless. by this time, his parents had already had two daughters and not long after alex, they had a second son. the family lived in ireland until alex was nine, when they moved to london so that caroline wouldn't have to apparate so far to get to work following an unfortunate splinching of her big left toe (though this was later corrected). two years later, alex received his hogwarts invitation and was sorted into gryffindor like both of his older sisters before him and eventually his younger brother. in his first year, alex was top in his flying class. what surprised his professor more than a first year with such talent was that he'd never been on a broomstick before, especially as he was a pureblood. his parents had originally loved quidditch but when priscilla fell off her broom at the age of ten and nearly broke her spine, their view changed completely and none of the children were allowed to ride a broom. the professor explained that he might be able to join the team if he tried out but alex decided to wait until the following year so that he'd had plenty of flying practice. he tried out as seeker in his second year but was outdone by a seventh year. so he tried out again in his third year, knowing that his prior competitor had left. he nearly lost out to a fifth year but thanks to a personal argument with the captain, alex got the position instead. his parents weren't best pleased and tried to write to the school to have him removed from the team but they refused to do so. during alex's fourth year, he received news from home that david had been taken to azkaban for having an affair with a muggle-born. caroline seemed very cold towards his sentence, obviously hurt by his betrayal and even more that he'd done so with a mudblood. alex only had a problem with the former point, personally placing little importance on blood status but accepting that the government thought otherwise. from his third year until now, he has been on the quidditch team as a seeker and was gutted when his teammate branna was made captain over him. despite this, he's willing to co-operate (where he would usually refuse to do anything out of protest) in order to get the best out of the team.
