personality:
[/blockquote]CHARISMATIC: Shane, when she’s not in a pissed off mood, has the kind of personality that seems to draw people to her. Despite her general hate of people, she’s easy to get along with and she’s not going to bite your head off if you catch her in the right mood and don’t attempt to push her buttons. She’s very outgoing and there are times when she’s more than willing to surround herself with people. Shane doesn’t have a problem talking to people she doesn’t know, in fact she’s quite good at it, and while she might not make friends she makes plenty of connections that she can use later on.
FLIRTATIOUS: She’s flirtatious almost to a fault; if you’re hot then you can pretty much bet that she’s going to flirt with you, though this isn’t to say that she’s going to make a pass; Shane usually leaves that for the other person. Due to the fact that she’s a natural flirt there are certain actions and speech patterns that Shane follows pretty much all of the time unless there’s something really serious going down…in layman’s terms? She doesn’t even have to like you and one can find evidence of her light flirting.
CONFIDENT/EGOTISTICAL: Shane really is one of the most egotistical person that you may ever meet. Give her a compliment (or something that she perceives as a compliment) and she’s more likely to respond with “I know” rather than “thank you.” One can’t really say that she’s overconfident simply because Shane does know her limits, but she’s like a daredevil…she likes to push her limits to see if she can accomplish something new. Her pride and her ego don’t particularly allow her to ask for help from people since she’s always insisting that she can get it done on her own, and if you ask if she needs help then she’s going to tell you no. If you’re really interested in helping it’s better to start without asking and just hope she doesn’t punch you in the mouth for your efforts.
PROTECTIVE: Shane is very protective of her friends and lord help you if you decide to mess with any of them because she will get you back. She puts her friends before herself and if it means that she’s going to get herself hurt then so be it. Being as determined as she is, nothing will stop her from defending them or getting revenge on someone who’s wronged them. Of course her friends aren’t the only things that she’s protective of; there are her books, her cat, and mostly her pride.
APATHETIC: Yeah…Shane doesn’t care about your sob story. A lot of people seem to think that if you share a pathetic enough story then you’ll get sympathy, and while this is true for some, Shane will just look at you with a “and your point is” look and probably say something along the lines of “wah, get over it” …or something close. She doesn’t like sympathy, giving it or receiving it, and if you expect some then you’ll be disappointed. Shane is…almost…emotionless and she doesn’t even try to feel for a person and even her friends are barely an exception to this.

history:
The marriage between Jackson O’Connor and Caitlyn Ramsey was one that was never supposed to happen, according to the parents of either of them. They met while in Hogwarts, being in two different houses but having the majority of the same classes together from their first year on, and the two of them had hit it off relatively well in the beginning of their third year after being partnered together in their potions class. It wasn’t until their fifth year that anything got serious and by the time they left Hogwarts the two of them were sure that neither of them wanted anyone else. The O’Connor family wasn’t a very prestigious family, though they were well known in Galway, Ireland and even owned a rather large piece of land just a couple miles outside of the city. The Ramsey’s, on the other hand, were very rich and highly prestigious, owning more than one estate within Scotland, one of them being in Edinburgh, an estate that Caitlyn Ramsey’s parents left to her…or was going to leave to her until she decided to marry the Irishman. Using what money the pair had, they bought a small place in Dublin, Ireland, Caitlyn making the choice to live in the country that her husband called home.
Caitlyn became pregnant when she was twenty-two, a relatively young age, and neither of them were quite prepared for having a child. Seeing no other choice, Caitlyn quit her intern job within the Ministry while Jackson continued on his path of becoming a doctor at St. Mungos, hoping to make enough money for them to be able to raise the child without help of either of their parents. However, it seemed having a child would bring the O’Connor family closer and they willingly made trips to Dublin to visit with the family, which was more than what could be said for the Ramsey’s. Shannon Marie O’Connor was born in the middle of January during a rather terrifying snowstorm and she was named after Jackson’s mother (Marie) and Caitlyn’s grandmother (Shannon).
When it came to money Caitlyn and Jackson didn’t start off with much, but the O’Connor’s willingly paid for a nanny to watch Shannon while both of her parents worked. Having grown up raised by nannies, Caitlyn refused the offer at first, wanting to spend at least a few years watching her daughter grow up, but by the time the child was three years old there was a nanny in the house taking care of her. Caitlyn went back to her intern job at the Ministry before gaining a position that brought in quite a bit of income, and mixing that with what her husband was making at St. Mungos it wasn’t long until they found themselves moving up and buying a larger house. Wanting to start Shannon off early in her magical heritage, they began hiring a private tutor for her when she was six, not wanting to risk her going to a muggle school and revealing what she was.
Unlike many pureblood families, Shannon grew up without the stigma that “muggles are scum”, though her tutor never seemed to hold them in a good light. She was a bit indifferent about them, not really caring that they were any different from her. Some might think that this was because she was a nice child who was too good to see that side, but really it was because Shannon seemed to have a rather apathetic nature when it came to certain things. She was eight when her rebellious stage kicked in and for the most part it was simple things; skipping lessons to hang out and play with the other kids, running off to go see some muggle concert, or her favorite, going to the comic book store and seeing what new releases they had out. She was a very boisterous and rebellious girl and the more her parents tried to squash the attitude the more she seemed to rebel. Around this same time the Ramsey’s finally started to show some interest in their granddaughter, having learned that she seemed to have a natural talent when it came to the things that she was learning. They decided (demanded was more like it) that Shannon began to spend her summers with them in Edinburgh so that she could learn things at a more private estate.
Her parents didn’t really see too many other choices since what they were offering was more than what they or Jackson’s parents could offer, and so she spent her first summer at the estate. After only a couple of months there she had decided that she hated it; first of all, there was no family, just a bunch of servants and tutors who always seemed to know when Shannon was planning on sneaking out and where she was going. They were worse than parents. And then there was the fact that there was no one around that was her own age except for a couple of servants who brought their kids to work with them. It was one of these kids that started calling her Shane, telling her that Shannon was “too girly of a name for her” and she was inclined to agree.
On one of her rare days off from tutoring sessions, Shane was up in her room with a couple of other kids when she decided that they needed to do something that was completely against the rules; climb on the roof. They all chickened out, leaving the young girl to do it on her own, and she did, ignoring the warnings that she was going to be punished, her grandparents and parents were going to find out, or the fact that she could easily fall off and die. Shane made a habit not listening to wimps and fools. She had been on the roof for only a few minutes when she saw something that almost made her fall off. There was someone else flying around on a broom, but instead of shock and awe, Shane was excited and she scrambled her way off the roof, deciding that she was going to go meet this person. And meet her Shane did.
Alone, Shane was a force to be reckoned with, but with her new friend she seemed to get into more trouble, and yet she still managed to keep up with her studies. When it was time for her to go back to Dublin she was miffed and a bit confused; she wanted to see her parents again but she didn’t want to leave her friend. But then her mother showed up at the Edinburgh estate, which was a surprise in itself, and what she told Shane next would put the young girl into a bit of a rut. Her parents were separating and for the time being Shane would be staying here with her mother. She wasn’t told why, not at that moment, though the question plagued her thoughts often enough, yet she never asked.
She was enrolled in Hogwarts, finally, and Shane found that between going to the school and going with her best friend, causing her to momentarily forget about her parent’s obvious problems. The first year at Hogwarts was spent at her friend’s side nearly the entirely time, though they did have their separate activities, and it all seemed to whirl together, though it was admittedly quite a bit of fun. That summer she was back in Scotland with her friend and was pleased to find that she was actually going to be allowed to have a summer vacation that wasn’t filled with more studies, though there would be a few, which gave her more time to cause trouble with her friend. During that summer the two girls met someone new, someone that Shane wasn’t too sure on whether she liked or not quite at the moment. He was an easy target for her teasing because of how irritable he was, but at least he was always willing to go along with their troublemaking.
Shane’s following years at Hogwarts were uneventful, which for her simply meant that she went around keeping up with her studies, pulling pranks on people, and causing trouble for the staff whenever she could. While she didn’t see much of her father anymore except for just before she got onto the train to Hogwarts and just after she got off, Shane kept in contact with him, still having never asked either parent why they had been separated. The summer between her fifth and sixth year was when Shane finally asked her mother what had happened, refusing to drop the subject and telling her that she had waited five years for an explanation. And so her mother gave her one. Just after Shane had left her father had started acting strangely. Caitlyn had pushed it off as some kind of work overload or separation anxiety until she learned that he was having an affair about a month before Shane was due to come home.
This revelation put a strain on her relationship with her father and for a few weeks Shane pretended that nothing was wrong, but when it comes to raw emotions she’s never been good at hiding what she thinks. Therefore, it wasn’t long before she was telling her father exactly what it was that she thought of him. This revelation is still quite fresh and any mention of her father is like someone picking at a newly formed scab and it’s a sure fire way to get the blonde to hate your guts. During this time period she went out and got a couple more piercings and a tattoo to go along with helping her best friend through her rebellious stage. During the summer just before her seventh year she got a second tattoo just to prove her mother wrong (and to save her pride) plus an industrial piercing while taking Parker to get her own ears pierced. She still managed to keep up with her studies, never letting go of what it means to be a Ravenclaw, though she does seem to put her studies second to her friends.

“What do you mean I can’t go out?! You can’t keep me holed up in this damn place!” Shane shouted angrily, glaring at her grandmother. The woman had just waltzed into the estate like she owned the damn place (okay, so maybe she did, but let’s not get technical), and then started demanding that her granddaughter stay in the house so that she could start studying for the advanced classes. And to think that she had bought the old hag a necklace! “You’re my granddaughter and you’re living in my house, therefore you’ll do exactly as I say! Or maybe you’d like to go live with your father.” Shane’s face went flat and she turned on her heel, running back up the stairs and into her room, pinching the bridge of her nose as she did so, and silently uttered curses that would have made her grandmother die of shock.
The blonde fell back onto her bed and rubbed her face, ignoring the makeup that she had already put on for the day. She had been hoping to go out and finish what was left of her school shopping sine the last time she went out she had spent most of her day in Knockturn Alley. Of course, that day she wasn’t supposed to leave the house either, but she had…which was probably why her grandmother was here today; to make sure she didn’t try the same thing twice. There was a tapping on her window and Shane sat up, raising an eyebrow and turning to look at the small pygmy owl that was tapping at the glass. “Oh, well aren’t you just the cutest thing,” she said with a grin, opening her window and letting the small thing hop into her hand. Setting it down on the desk, Shane untied the letter before pulling out pellets for it to snack on while she read the note…not that there was much to read.
“Hey. Need to get out of here quick. Gav.”
Shane chuckled lightly and tapped the note with her wand, watching it curl into flames before pulling on her shoes. Of course she had every intention of leaving and helping her…friend? Did she consider Gavin a friend? Kind of…at least in some ways…sure he wasn’t Parker’s rival, but hey, that didn’t mean Shane couldn’t hang out with him too. Humming, she patted the owl on its head lightly, briefly wondering if she should apparate with the owl. But it was already flying out of her window and she shrugged lightly, opening the door to her bedroom to listen downstairs. Her grandmother’s shrill voice was busy telling the servants working that day that everything they were doing was wrong. Perfect. Shane closed her door, stored her wand in her purse, and then closed her eyes. There was a cracking noise followed by a popping one and she opened an eye, grinning as she looked around.
Gavin’s room was….interesting…and then her eyes actually settled on him, a grin spreading across her face. Shane was a very shameless person and she was evil to boot, making the site in front of her one that she was going to want to document. If only she had a camera… “What, do I look scary with a towel on my head or something?” The blonde Ravenclaw pursed her lips and let out a low chuckle, “hm, I don’t know Gavin, I think I’ve been scarred for life.” There was a light teasing note in her voice and she settled her hands on her hips.
